Auction dynamic proves motivational to the natural buyer
Orca Capital facilitated the sale of the assets of Tyrholm Big R, Inc. of southern OR to Albany, OR based Coastal Farm and Ranch. Both companies serve the burgeoning ranch and country lifestyle market. The acquired assets included 3 large Farm and Ranch stores located in central and southern Oregon. The acquisition was a natural geographic expansion for Coastal Farm and Ranch.
A fast learning curve
Rock Tyrholm had attempted to sell the business on his own, but could never get the price he wanted. Ultimately he decided he wanted to be represented by a professional firm that truly understood his business. He shared later that he was impressed by Orca’s knowledge.
Orca mapped the strength of Tyrholm Big R’s infrastructure and market, making a compelling argument for enhanced value based on solid analysis. The case was laid out lucidly in the Information Memorandum.
Motivating power of an auction
Orca created an auction dynamic, and delivered offers from five suitable contenders who had the motivation and capital to make the acquisition. To win this attractive deal, a buyer needed to step up. Coastal Farm and Ranch did just that.
In the end, the deal was accomplished for a significant premium to historical offers for the company. The acquisition of the three Tyrholm Big R stores in Klamath Falls, White City, and Redmond expanded the geographic footprint of Coastal Farm and Ranch to 15 stores in two states.
